FAQ

I cannot register my course credit from my downloaded course. I am given a message saying the attempt timed out.

I have pop-up blocking software installed and cannot run the course.

I cannot take a chapter test. When I come to the end of a chapter, an animation announces a chapter test, but then two blank windows appear, each with an Internet Explorer error, "'parent.frames.frame_a' is null or not an object".

I've answered "yes" to the security warning and the course doesn't launch. Under the "M" logo, it says "To access your online course ... "

I get a security warning asking me if I want to "install and run the progress applet" when I try to start the course.

I get "Illegal Function Call" when opening the course on Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

I purchased a MicroMash course on floppies. When I run it, a message states, "This installation disk has already been used for a single computer installation on a different computer." How do I reinstall the course for use on a second computer?

I cannot register my course credit from my downloaded course. I am given a message saying the attempt timed out.

A small number of our downloadable CPE courses were released with an issue causing them to "timeout" when attempting to register earned credit. This issue has been fixed in the downloadable courses that are currently available but if you are encountering this message on a course you had installed previously, you will need to download and apply this update. (Do not attempt to reinstall the entire course as you will lose the progress you've already earned and have to start over.)

  1. First ensure your Internet connection is working when the registration attempt is made: in your Web browser, can you get to a page on the Internet?
  2. If your Internet connection is OK but you still can't register your credit, download the credit registration update here:
    http://micromash.net/support/MMCreditRegUpdate/MMCreditRegUpdate.exe
  3. When asked Do you want to run or save this file?, select Run. (Then, if an additional security alert is shown, click Run on it, too.)
  4. After a couple of moments, the update will open. Follow the on-screen instructions to update your courses.

I have pop-up blocking software installed and cannot run the course.

Many people have pop-up blocking software installed on their computers. These products can be very helpful, but they often block useful programs and sometimes interfere with running a MicroMash CPE course.

I cannot take a chapter test. When I come to the end of a chapter, an animation announces a chapter test, but then two blank windows appear, each with an Internet Explorer error, "'parent.frames.frame_a' is null or not an object".

You are running Internet Explorer 7. Some of our older courses require a small patch to accomodate changes introduced by IE7.

  1. Download the patch here:
    http://micromash.net/support/ie7_patch/CPE.exe
  2. When asked Do you want to run or save this file?, select Run.
  3. Click the Update button.

I've answered "yes" to the security warning and the course doesn't launch. Under the "M" logo, it says "To access your online course ... "

If you have an active pop-up blocker, it is preventing a second window from opening. Please disable the blocker. If you have a second search bar that comes up automatically with Internet Explorer, it may have a pop-up blocker associated with it.

You may need to remove the search bar by going to

  1. Start/Settings/Control Panel
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs
  3. Highlight the search bar and click Change/Remove

I get a security warning asking me if I want to "install and run the progress applet" when I try to start the course.

You must say "yes" to this warning. If you answered "no" to this warning you must reboot your system and then launch the course and answer "yes".

I purchased a MicroMash course on floppies. When I run it, a message states, "This installation disk has already been used for a single computer installation on a different computer." How do I reinstall the course for use on a second computer?

You will have to go back to the initial computer where the product was first installed and change it from a single setup to a multiple setup. To make this change you will need to go to the initial computer and do the following:

  1. Exit the MicroMash course.
  2. Start our utilities program. Go to Start/Programs/MicroMash/Utilities.

If you no longer have access to the initial computer you will have to call Technical Support. When calling please be at your computer.
